Easy Read Toolbox Mental Health

Intellectual disabilities limit the ability to learn, affecting mental and mental health and maintaining wholesome health such as positive self-esteem and finding an identity. It was noted that in Australian culture there is great diversity in having fun, ranging from physical activities to social activities to media to daily activities. The activities vary and increase the user journey to have fun and help citizens maintain positive mental health through creating hobbies and interests.

The Easy Read Toolbox required a set of icons to educate about maintaining positive health. Due to the activities becoming highly distinct, required designs to ensure an activity is conveyed to create positive mental health through activities. The designs required a focus on an activity’s experience and the equipment involved in the activity. The design allows the end-user to understand what the activities consist of to help improve mental health.

The set icons apply to disability workers to provide resources to help intellectual disabilities understand ways to strengthen psychological well-being. The awareness allows understanding of various activities to increase mental health and reduce mental issues such as boredom, stress, anxiety, and grief.
