Easy Read Toolbox Winter Items

Intellectual disabilities affect self-care in the human mind. The barrier creates issues to adapt in environmental situations such as climate, winter cold, summer heat and travelling. The issue, therefore, creates implications on the human body from environmental conditions such as sickness from cold, and exhaustion from heat.

The Easy Read Toolbox ideated a solution to apply layout and simplistic graphics as a method to create easy learning for various topics in the intellectual disability section. During Australia’s winter period, self-care was required in the cold and breeze. The topic pointed to the need for tips for adapting to winter and a requirement for items to relieve the cold.

The design consisted of physical items such as warm clothes, hot drinks, and food. The set of icons applies as a guideline ubiquitously in the winter. The icon was to showcase the required items that keep the body temperature warm, with text applied on how to use the item or explaining the item’s essential purposes.
