Easy Read Toolbox Medical Services

Intellectual disabilities create barriers to learning such as reading, listening, and speaking. The restrictions create recurring effects on social skills through self-care to notice health issues such as injuries or illnesses. Maintaining positive health through visiting clinics and hospitals requires understanding the need for medical appointments to avoid physical and mental health issues.

The Easy Read Toolbox strived to create inclusive education through icons, condensed text, and layout design to create easy learning. Focusing on health appointments required communicating the common activities and equipment used during check-ups such as doctor visits for health assessment. The topic requires communicating the situation of check-ups to improve health and understanding how these services relieve health issues.

The design included health scenarios such as medical check-ups, injury recovery, and lifestyle changes. In addition, the common tools used during appointments such as X-rays to assess bodily harm, medical results on a clipboard, and medicine packaging for improved health. The icons allow understanding of the steps and process during appointments to relieve health issues such as elevating body injuries, medicine for health conditions or daily routines for improved health. For the provider, using text allows writing the content for health scenarios such as using crutches for lower body injuries to assist with physical movement or reduce pressure put on an injury.

The icons envision boosting self-care to be aware of visiting hospitals and medical centres. The content allows education about the operations of appointments to create a sustainable lifestyle and be vigilant to not allow health issues to grow through implementing medical services. The education from easy learning improves health to understanding the functions of medical equipment, devices, medicines, and technology to relieve health issues.
