Intellectual disabilities affect learning skills and can create ongoing issues in a person’s lifestyle. This can lead to mental skills such as being aware of cultural events, empathy skills and a need for good health. Ultimately, education is essential for soft skills such as nurturing others, being connected in society and understanding social areas such as inclusion.
The Easy Read Toolbox aims to assist in the field of Intellectual disabilities through easy learning of layout design, easy read layouts and thoughtful combination of text and words. The Easy Read Toolbox applied icons to assist with Australia’s famous Harmony Day.
A set of icons is required to communicate the needs of diverse cultures, genders and citizens of Australia. The icons involved the charity’s famous orange tone, alongside icons of different colour tones to show the connection of genders and nationalities.
